Dear Hudson,

You are my little darling.

Tonight I cuddled you in your rocker and noticed how very big you are getting.  You are long and strong and you almost take up my whole lap! I rocked you...back and forth...and prayed for you and the man you will become.

And then I wished really hard that I could bottle you up just as you are right now....my little man.

Your perfect little cheeks seem to beg for my kisses and the way your eyes search mine inspires me to be the best mama I can be.  If I could give you the world I would...but instead I give you a slow and steady rock, back and forth, cuddled up against the beat of my heart.

I watched as your eyes grew droopy and was reminded of the power I hold.  In my arms I contain the power to transform a stiff, flailing child into a calm, sleepy baby.  The crook of my elbow cradles your head and you melt deeper into my chest as we rock...slowly, back and forth.

With a deep sigh, those baby blues finally close tight and I walk slowly to your crib...as I lay you down softly I move without breathing...hoping not to disturb the rest that has enveloped you.

Suddenly, you are all movement as you roll over and whip your head around to see me...you smile wide when our eyes connect and you look so happy to see that I can't help but scoop you back up into my arms.

As I lifted you back out of your crib you had a twinkle in your eye that said you knew...you knew that you had won (and I was waving the white flag)!  However, bedtime was never meant to be a battle of wills but rather a sequence of moments to be cherised.

...and cherish them I do my sweet boy.  So back to the rocker we go...and I kiss you...and I drink deep of this moment as we rock...slowly, back and forth.
